Fourme d'Ambert is a cow's milk cheese from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, originally made in the vicinity of Ambert (Puy-de-Dôme), having an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) since 1972. This cheese is now protected in Europe under the quality label AOP: Protected Designation of Origin, since 2006.
